- 9.5% (or 20.9 million) of American adults have mood disorders
- 6.7% (or 14.8 million) of American adults have major depressive disorder
- 2.6% (or 5.7 million) of American adults have bipolar disorder
- 18.1% (or 40 million) of American adults have anxiety disorder
- 400%: Increase in rate of antidepressant use between 1988 and 2008

Those are frightening statistics. The way things are around the world, it is no surprise sadly however.
